The panelists

- Edey out, Coward questionable, Murray questionable; Cardwell, Raynaud and Simmons out.
- Coverage citing James Ham describes Murray's ankle stiffness and questionable designation.
On the spread. If Murray sits and Coward plays without restriction, Memphis gains a wing advantage while Sacramento remains short of reserve centers. Memphis could then justify laying 3.5 despite Edey's absence.
On the total. Edey's absence also costs Memphis offensive rebounding and finishing. If Coward and Murray both sit, diminished shooting and offensive continuity could outweigh weaker interior defense and validate the downward move.

Spread. The strongest explanation for Memphis -3.5 is its better opening form against a Sacramento team already short of frontcourt depth. The dossier has Memphis 2-0 and Sacramento 0-2, but two games cannot establish reliable team strength. There is no internal fair spread. Both teams had one full day off after October 23, with Sacramento staying home and Memphis coming from Golden State. Neither is playing its second consecutive night. The October 25 official report adds Edey's absence and Murray's questionable designation to the captured scan. My basketball inference is that losing Edey's size improves Sacramento's interior matchup and reduces the appeal of laying points with Memphis. However, the move from Sacramento +4.5 to +3.5 has already absorbed some support for the home side, without establishing its cause. Murray's uncertain availability offsets part of that case. I would accept Sacramento +3.5 at -108 as a lean, but the remaining advantage is too thin for a normal unit. Preseason results carry little weight.
Total. The strongest explanation for 234.5 is that Sacramento's defensive problems support a high total, while availability concerns justify the decline from the captured opening numbers. The under case deserves respect: Sacramento scored 96 in its opener, Memphis allowed 103 and 108, and Coward and Murray remain questionable on October 25. Those are tiny samples, however. The over case is that Edey's absence removes interior size while Sacramento lacks two reserve centers, potentially weakening defensive possessions and rebounding. NBA.com reports Acuff scored 33 on October 23. Both teams enter with one full day off, so there is no second-night fatigue argument. I lean over 234.5 at DraftKings -110 after the two-point decline, but unverified pace and replacement minutes prevent a bet.

- Edey is out for ankle management; Stewart and Post are candidates for increased playing time.
- Acuff scored 33 against Portland on October 23.
- Official report confirms both teams' frontcourt absences and questionable wings.

- Grizzlies: Coward game-time decision (wrist), Edey out until at least Oct 26 (ankle). Kings: Murray game-time decision (ankle), Raynaud and Cardwell out until at least Nov 2, Simmons out for season.
- Murray questionable for Sunday with left ankle capsulitis; possible replacement starters Plowden, Mogbo or Karaban.
- Portland beat Sacramento 128-120; Acuff 33, Sabonis 27 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists, LaVine 22.
On the spread. If Murray sits, Sacramento starts Daeqwon Plowden, Jonathan Mogbo or rookie Alex Karaban and loses a two-way forward, and the Kings have lost two regular-season games by 25 and 8 plus five preseason games. If Coward returns for Memphis and Jerome stays hot, Memphis can win by more than a possession, and the move to 3.5 may mean the value on the dog is already gone.
On the total. Neither team has a healthy second center, so the paint can be wide open, the Kings have allowed 121 and 128 in their two games, and Sabonis, LaVine and Acuff combined for 82 points Friday. A Coward return and another hot night from Jerome push this over quickly in a fast-paced game.

Spread. No NBA model yet, so the market is the start. The strongest case for Memphis minus 3.5 is simple: the Grizzlies are 2-0 and the Kings are 0-2 with a minus 16.5 average margin, and Sacramento is down both backup centers, Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell, with Keegan Murray questionable (left ankle). That is why the line sits where it does. What moves me slightly to Sacramento is the Memphis side of the sheet: CBS listed Zach Edey out (ankle) on Oct 24, and Edey is the one body Memphis has to match Domantas Sabonis on the glass, where Sabonis has posted 18 and 19 rebounds in two games. FanDuel opened Sacramento plus 4.5 and the Kings were plus 4.5 at DraftKings and BetMGM overnight, and all three are now plus 3.5, which reads like the Edey news being priced. Rest is level: both teams had one full day off after playing Oct 23, and neither is on a back-to-back. Ty Jerome scoring 45 and 28 is not a rate to project. I hold a small lean on the home dog with the hook through 3, not a bet, because Murray and Cedric Coward are both game-time calls.
Total. The market opened 236.5 at DraftKings and FanDuel and 237.5 at BetMGM and has come down to 234.5 to 235.5. The strongest case for the number is two thin frontcourts: Sacramento has no healthy backup center and Memphis is without Edey, which opens the paint for both sides, and the Kings have allowed 124.5 a game. The under case: the four regular-season games involving these teams finished 217, 248, 226 and 219, three of four well under this line, the down move came with Edey ruled out and Murray questionable, which removes rim finishing and a scorer, and Memphis has held opponents to 105.5. Rest is level with one day off each. I lean under at BetMGM's 234.5 at minus 105, a lean only, since early-season samples are tiny.

- Memphis won 111-108 at Golden State after trailing 106-94 with 3:47 left; Jerome 28, Boozer 25 and 13, Edey 8 and 10 in 22 minutes.
- DraftKings shows MEM minus 3.5 (minus 112), SAC plus 3.5 (minus 108), total 234.5, moneylines MEM minus 166 and SAC plus 140.
- Kings 2026-27 results: L 96-121 at LAC Oct 21, L 120-128 vs POR Oct 23.
- Grizzlies 2026-27 results: W 123-103 vs UTAH Oct 21, W 111-108 at GS Oct 23.
- Edey out until at least Oct 26 (ankle); Murray game-time decision (ankle).
- DraftKings total 234.5 at minus 110 each way.

- Memphis is 2-0 in the regular season, average margin plus 11.5; Sacramento is 0-2, average margin minus 16.5.
- Both teams are on one full day off with no back-to-back.
- Sacramento centers Cardwell (calf) and Raynaud (knee, at least the first five or six regular-season games per the Kings, Oct. 15) are listed out, and Simmons is out for the season (Covers injury scan, 2026-10-25, can lag the official report).
On the spread. Two games each is noise, Sacramento is at home with a rested roster otherwise, and if Coward is out Memphis loses a rotation guard. A Memphis win by 3 or fewer, as at Golden State, would lose this side.
On the total. Either side can be argued: Sacramento's weak defense and thin frontcourt favor the over, while the downward line move and Memphis defense favor the under.

Spread. The strongest explanation for a modest MEM -3.5 is small samples and road travel: both teams are two games into the season, preseason results are exhibitions, and Sacramento is the home side. Against that, the dossier shows Memphis 2-0 with an average margin of plus 11.5, including a 111-108 road win at Golden State on Oct. 23, while Sacramento is 0-2 with an average margin of minus 16.5 and was beaten 96-121 at the Clippers on Oct. 21 and 120-128 at home by Portland on Oct. 23. Sacramento also lists Cardwell and Raynaud (both centers) out and Simmons out for the season, which thins its frontcourt. Rest is even: both teams had one full day off, no back-to-back. The market has moved toward Memphis on the moneyline at FanDuel (home price shortened from +148 to +134) while the spread held at 3.5. I lean Memphis at 3.5 but this is thin evidence, so it stays a lean and not a bet. I did not run live web research, so the lean rests on the captured dossier only.
Total. No view. The consensus total is 234.75, down from 236.5 to 237.5 openers (DraftKings minus 2, FanDuel minus 1, BetMGM minus 3). Over case: Memphis is scoring 117 per game, Sacramento's defense allowed 124.5 per game in two games, and both teams play quickly with thin Sacramento frontcourt protection. Under case: the market has already taken the total down, Memphis allowed only 105.5 per game, and early-season totals often settle lower as teams find rotations. With a two-game sample, no verified lineup news and a drifting number, I cannot separate the sides, and the prices are near even.

- Memphis guard Coward is Day To Day with a wrist issue and did not play Oct. 23 (Covers injury scan, 2026-10-25, unverified against the official report).
- Spread is 3.5 at DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM; FanDuel opened at 4.5 and moved to 3.5.
- Captured Memphis -3.5 prices: DraftKings -112, FanDuel -112, BetMGM -110 (2026-10-25 15:20 UTC).
- Totals now 234.5 at DraftKings and BetMGM, 235.5 at FanDuel (2026-10-25 15:20 UTC).
- Memphis scores 117 and allows 105.5 per game in 2 regular-season games; Sacramento scores 108 and allows 124.5.
- Both teams are on one full day off.

Memphis Grizzlies at Sacramento Kings, Kings +3.5. DraftKings opened Sacramento +3.5 and remains +3.5, FanDuel moved from +4.5 to +3.5, and BetMGM opened and remains +3.5. The captured consensus is Sacramento +3.5. Both teams have one full day off after October 23, so neither is on a back-to-back. The October 25 official report lists Memphis center Zach Edey out with left ankle injury management and Cedric Coward questionable with a left wrist sprain. Sacramento lists Keegan Murray questionable, while Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Raynaud and Ben Simmons are out. Edey's absence gives Sacramento a clearer interior matchup with Domantas Sabonis, who had 19 rebounds against Portland on October 23. The counter-case is Memphis's 2-0 start against Sacramento's 0-2 start, along with Sacramento's depleted reserve-center rotation. Murray's status could also swing the wing matchup. Take Sacramento +3.5 at -105 at BetMGM.
No call on the total. DraftKings fell from 236.5 to 234.5, FanDuel from 236.5 to 235.5 and BetMGM from 237.5 to 234.5, leaving a 234.75 captured consensus. Both teams have a full day off. The over case is Sacramento allowing 121 and 128 points in its first two games, while Edey's absence and Sacramento's missing reserve centers can weaken interior defense and rebounding. The under case is the falling market, Edey's absence removing offensive rebounding and finishing, and Murray and Coward listed questionable on October 25. Early results cover only two games apiece, and lineup status remains unsettled, so the panel did not form a side.
