Los Angeles Rams at Denver Broncos. Lean: Denver Broncos +2.5. Lean: Under 45.5.
The call
The panelists
- Dobbins and Harvey finished with full practices and no game status; Coleman was ruled out and Mims was questionable.
- Nacua and Kinchens were doubtful; Parkinson was questionable but trending toward playing.
- Donald played 33 snaps against the Giants; Garrett was on IR; Denver acquired Waddle; the preview contrasts the depleted Giants secondary with Surtain.
On the spread. Stafford can sustain the offense through Adams, Ferguson and the running game even without Nacua. Donald and McDuffie could expose Denver's inconsistent execution. If Nacua unexpectedly plays effectively and Mims sits, Denver loses much of the availability advantage; +2.5 offers no protection against a three-point Rams win.
On the total. A healthier Denver backfield and Los Angeles' defensive absences can lift Denver's scoring. Stafford already demonstrated production without Nacua. If winds are lighter inside the stadium or Nacua plays effectively, the remaining under cushion can disappear; 24-21 beats Under 44.5.

Spread. The strongest explanation for Rams -2 to -2.5 is Stafford's advantage over Nix, supported by Los Angeles' productive offense and a defense strengthened by Donald's return and McDuffie's arrival. Stafford just threw four touchdowns without Nacua; his likely absence does not automatically make Denver the better team. Dobbins and Harvey are cleared, and Nacua's likely absence lets Denver concentrate more coverage attention on Adams. His explosive Giants performance came against a depleted secondary; Surtain presents a substantially harder matchup. Our Rams -1.2 is 1.3 points below that captured spread, but the model has no demonstrated ATS edge. BetMGM explicitly attributes its move toward Denver to Nacua, so this is already public information, not an undiscovered injury advantage. The remaining matchup and price preference supports a LOW lean, not a normal unit: +2.5 still loses on a field-goal margin, and Los Angeles retains meaningful advantages.
Total. The strongest explanation for 43.5-44.5 is that the market has already discounted Nacua's likely absence and both defenses. BetMGM reports its total falling from 45.5 to 44; chasing that move requires care. I retain a LOW under lean only at captured FanDuel 44.5 (-115). Applying the supplied historical bias numerically takes our 44.75 projection to 43.55, a modest cushion rather than a proven edge. Nacua's doubtful designation and a breezy forecast support the direction. The over case is substantial: Denver's principal backs are cleared, Kinchens is doubtful, Garrett is on IR, and Stafford generated four touchdowns last week without Nacua. Warm, dry conditions also preserve scoring opportunities. Wind forecasts disagree enough that I would not make a large weather adjustment. The existing Under 45.5 lock remains unchanged.
Where our number looks wrong. The rating treats materially changed rosters too much like their preseason margin histories. Donald's return and McDuffie's addition can make Los Angeles better defensively than its rating suggests; Waddle improves Denver's receiving options, while Nacua's likely absence reduces Los Angeles' offense. These changes cut both ways, so Rams -1.2 is not a reliable fair-price estimate. The database also mislabels Alaric Jackson as a guard and rest absences as injuries; the official report lists Jackson at tackle and Donald/Young with no game designation.
- Denver's preview confirms McDuffie's acquisition and Donald's return, and documents Denver's early red-zone failures against Jacksonville.
- BetMGM reported Denver +2 after opening +2.5, linked the adjustment to Nacua, and reported 58% of spread bets on the Rams.
- BetMGM reported the total declining from an opening 45.5 to 44, with 70% of total tickets on over.
- Official Friday table lists Nacua and Kinchens doubtful, Dobbins and Harvey without game designations, and Donald's absence as rest.
- Stafford recorded 327 passing yards and four touchdowns in the Week 2 victory.
- Hourly forecast shows mostly cloudy, 80°F, SSE wind 14 mph and 0% precipitation at 6 p.m. MDT; 77°F and 13 mph at 7 p.m.
- An alternative Denver hourly forecast shows 23 mph at 6 p.m. and 13 mph at 7 p.m., illustrating wind uncertainty.
- Nacua and Kinchens doubtful; Parkinson questionable; McVay: doubtful means more unlikely than likely
- Broncos rule out Jonah Coleman; Mims questionable
- Rams -2.5, total 44.5; Rams run-blocking and run-success rankings; Denver run defense weak
On the spread. The Rams can win on the ground with Kyren Williams and Blake Corum behind the league's best run-blocking line, and Denver's offense under a new play-caller has been inconsistent; a Rams win by a field goal covers.
On the total. Mild, dry weather and a poor Denver run defense could let the Rams sustain drives while Bo Nix carries a bigger load, producing a 27-21 game.

Spread.Market-first: Rams -2.5 on the road says Los Angeles is the better team by about a field goal on a neutral field; both are 1-1 and both lost a conference title game last season, and the Rams run game grades first in adjusted line yards against a Denver run defense that has struggled. The spread has barely moved (2.5 to 3 open, 2 to 2.5 now). What the news adds: Puka Nacua is doubtful after missing all three practices and McVay called doubtful more unlikely than likely, safety Kamren Kinchens is doubtful, and tight end Colby Parkinson is questionable, so the Rams are thin in the pass game and the back end. Denver loses rookie back Jonah Coleman, but Dobbins and Harvey were full participants Thursday per our injury scan and carry no game designation. A home dog at altitude getting 2.5 against a Rams team without its top receiver is where I lean, though the Rams' run-game edge keeps it a lean.
Total. This market is already locked for the panel at Under 45.5; I still file it. The total opened 45.5 to 46.5 and has fallen to 43.5 to 44.5. Our totals model is 44.75, about 43.5 after its high bias, close to the market. The under case: the under is 2-0 in both teams' games, the Rams are without Nacua and likely Parkinson, Denver's backfield is short Coleman, and a Rams team leaning on the run shortens the game. The over case: Denver's run defense is poor and the Rams could move it steadily, the weather is dry and mild, and both teams were built to score. I still lean under at 44 but most of the value went with the move from 45.5.
Where our number looks wrong. The model does not see Nacua out; if anything that moves the fair number further toward Denver. It does not see the Rams' run-blocking edge against Denver's run defense either, which moves it back.
- Under 2-0 in both teams' games; Rams -2.5, total 45.5 at the time
- Top pick Under 44.5; receiving corps and backfields compromised
- Puka Nacua doubtful for Sunday Night Football vs. Broncos
- Kam Kinchens also doubtful with hamstring injury
- Denver forecast: 77F, cloudy, wind 12mph gusting to 22mph at Empower Field
On the spread. Stafford has other outlets (Whittington now a full participant, Tutu Atwell, the run game) and Denver's own backfield is thin (Dobbins, Harvey, Coleman all managing injuries), so Denver's offense may not be able to fully capitalize even if L.A.'s passing game is dinged.
On the total. Two quality offenses (Stafford, Nix) can still produce points through the ground game and short/intermediate passing even with the receiver injuries, and neither defense is elite enough to guarantee a game stays under the current, already-reduced number.

Spread.Los Angeles is priced a modest 2 to 2.5-point road favorite, which reads as the market crediting Stafford's 2025 explosiveness (+0.135 EPA/play, the best mark in this slate) over a Denver team that actually had the better 2025 record (14-3) but projects as a slight underdog at home against a clearly superior offense. The fresh wrinkle since that price was set is the Rams' receiver room: Puka Nacua is doubtful for a second straight week (hip/groin) and safety Kam Kinchens is doubtful as well, while Denver is close to full health (only a questionable WR and a rest-day-only RB group). That is a real subtraction from the specific unit - Stafford's downfield weapons - the market is pricing as the edge, and it is fresh enough, Friday's report, that the number may not have fully absorbed a Nacua-less Rams passing game against a Denver defense that finished 2025 in the league's upper tier. Lean the home number, not a bet, since Nacua's exact game-time status is not final.
Total. The total has already fallen from an open near 45.5-46.5 to roughly 43.5-44.5 this week, tracking the same Rams receiver-room concerns (Nacua, Kinchens both doubtful) and Denver's own thinned backfield (Dobbins, Harvey, Coleman) that would otherwise argue for the under. Wind at Empower Field (12mph, gusting to 22) adds a mild further drag on passing efficiency. All of that is already public and dated this week, and the number has moved accordingly, so there is no incremental fact that the current 43.5-44.5 range has not priced in. I am passing with no additional view beyond what is already reflected.
- Total moved from an open near 45.5-46.5 to 43.5-44.5
- Wind will be 12mph gusting to 22mph at Empower Field
The call, written up
Los Angeles at Denver, Denver +2.5. The line has moved toward Denver all week, from Rams -2.5 to -3 at the open down to -2 to -2.5 now. Rams receiver Puka Nacua is doubtful for a second straight week with a hip and groin issue, safety Kam Kinchens is also doubtful, and tight end Colby Parkinson is questionable, while Aaron Donald returns from a rest day. Denver rules out running back Jonah Coleman, but J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey were full practice participants with no game designation, and Marvin Mims Jr. is questionable. The strongest case against is the Rams' run game, which grades first in adjusted line yards against a Denver run defense that has struggled, giving Los Angeles a path to cover even without Nacua.
Under 45.5. The total opened near 45.5-46.5 and drifted down to 44.5-45 by capture, with FanDuel moving from 46.5 to 45.5 and DraftKings from 45.5 to 44.5. Denver's backfield was limited or out at Wednesday's practice (Dobbins, Harvey, Coleman, 9/23) and Rams receiver Nacua remained uncertain after sitting out Week 2. The counter-case: two panels called the forecast mild with no weather suppression expected. Two panels support Under 45.5, captured at -115 on FanDuel.
How to read this page
The calls come first on this page: the spread and the total, each a Pick or a Lean, then Ace, Stack and Buck one by one. The market's number, our number and the gap between them sit further down as MODEL CONTEXT: that is the input our analyst panel argued from, not a call of its own. A Pick is our strongest call and goes on the record. A Lean is which way we lean on a game and is not a pick. The meter shows how strongly the panel backs the call. It is not a probability or a hit rate.

Model context
The numbers the panel argued from. Our models price a game, the panel makes the call, and the calls above are the call. Nothing in this block is a call. Where the panel's written case cites a raw number of its own, the calibrated number is the one printed here.
The totals number is a registered candidate that loses to the closing total: across 1,087 held out games it missed the combined score by 10.46 points on average and the closing total missed by 10.189, ahead of us in all 4 of those seasons, so it never posts to the board and never enters the record on its own.
The write-up
The case
The total
Under 45.5 (Lean). Under 45.5. Carried unchanged from the Wednesday run, locked at FanDuel's 45.5, -115. The total opened 45.5 to 46.5 and has fallen to 43.5 to 44.5 since. Los Angeles is missing top receiver Puka Nacua, doubtful for a second straight week, and safety Kam Kinchens, while Denver is down running back Jonah Coleman. Wind at Empower Field runs 12 mph gusting to 22, a mild drag on passing. The counter case is Denver's poor run defense against a Rams run game that grades first in adjusted line yards, which could sustain drives even without Nacua. Take the under at 45.5, -115, FanDuel.

Trends and splits
Descriptive context, every line with the games it counts. Filters like these did not hold up as predictors in our testing, so none of this feeds a call and none of it is a reason a pick wins. Situational splits look back 3 seasons and need at least 8 decided games to be shown at all. Records against the number and on the total are graded at each game's closing line, the last quote before kickoff at DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM. A game we have no capture for is graded at the number the league data carries.
