Keys to the game
  • Williams ruled out; Bagent remains questionable, and Chicago has not selected its replacement starter. Neither backup has started a regular-season game since 2023.
  • Monangai, Thuney, Stevenson and Santos finished the practice week without game designations.
  • Fangio described Chicago's rushing offense as an under-center scheme; Chicago rushed for 281 yards in the 2025 meeting.
What beats it

On the spread. If Keenum starts or Bagent remains limited, Philadelphia can force obvious passing situations against a quarterback with little recent starting experience. Healthy Barkley and Smith strengthen Philadelphia's offense despite its other absences. Chicago's rushing success may not compensate for losing Williams' improvisation.

On the total. Bagent starting effectively would weaken the under case. Barkley and Smith are cleared, Chicago's rushing attack can produce points without Williams, and favorable weather supports offensive execution. Short fields or defensive scores could also defeat a low total.

Read Ace's full case

Spread. The strongest explanation for Philadelphia being favored is Chicago's quarterback downgrade: Williams is out, and neither potential replacement has started a regular-season game since 2023. That substantially explains the reversal from Chicago -1.5; our Chicago -1 is not a credible injury-adjusted valuation. Bagent's return to full practice improves Chicago's options, while Monangai, Thuney, Stevenson and Santos have no game designation. Chicago retains a credible rushing attack that can support either backup; Fangio specifically described its under-center structure as less dependent on quarterback-generated runs. Philadelphia also loses Goedert and Brown. However, Bagent's return has already prompted reported movement toward Chicago, and +5 was captured before the final injury reports. I would accept that listed number as a LOW lean, but cannot justify a normal unit or extend support to +3.5. Barkley and Smith being available, plus the possibility of Keenum starting, keep the counter-case substantial.

Total. The strongest explanation for 42 to 42.5 is the missing Chicago starter and Philadelphia's reduced receiving depth, rather than weather. Our 46.02 becomes 44.82 after the required 1.2-point bias correction, before accounting for Williams being out and Goedert's absence. Those omissions undermine the apparent over edge. I lean under 42.5 at -115, but the substantial decline from earlier captured totals means much of the offensive damage is already priced. The over case remains credible: Barkley and Smith are available, Bagent has resumed full practice, Chicago can generate rushing production, and light winds should not hinder scoring. Philadelphia's evolving offense and uncertain Chicago quarterback efficiency make the remaining under advantage too fragile for a normal unit.

Where our number looks wrong. The projected-QB flag is materially wrong for this game: Williams is officially out. Consequently, the 4.5-point disagreement cannot be treated as value on Chicago. The model also misses Philadelphia's receiving absences and its new offensive scheme under Sean Mannion. Its documented lack of ATS edge further weakens any mechanical interpretation.

More key facts
  • Reported FanDuel movement from Philadelphia -4.5 to -3.5 accompanied the Bagent practice update.
  • Goedert, Brown and Fred Johnson are out; Barkley and Smith are available; Greenard is questionable.
  • Chicago must replace Williams with Bagent or Keenum.
  • Philadelphia is working through Sean Mannion's offense and an offensive-line arrangement with Drew Kendall at center and Cam Jurgens at left guard.
  • Kickoff forecast snapshots indicate light winds around 5 mph, temperatures in the middle-to-upper 60s and minimal precipitation risk.

Keys to the game
  • Bears rule out Caleb Williams; Bagent or Keenum will start
  • Eagles out: Hollywood Brown, Goedert, Fred Johnson; Greenard questionable
  • Eagles -4.5, total 41.5 midweek; Eagles 0-2 ATS; Bears 3-0 ATS as home dogs under Johnson
What beats it

On the spread. Keenum or a just-cleared Bagent against Philadelphia's defense could produce very little offense, and an Eagles offense with Barkley back can win by a touchdown.

On the total. Philadelphia's healthy backfield and a Bears defense that has to be on the field longer could push this into the mid-40s.

Read Stack's full case

Spread.Market-first: the Bears opened as 1.5-point favorites at DraftKings and FanDuel and flipped to 3.5-point underdogs once Caleb Williams' hamstring became clear; he is now ruled out, and Tyson Bagent (cleared from concussion protocol, questionable) or Case Keenum starts. Philadelphia is 2-0 but 0-2 ATS. Our number is Bears by 1, a 4.5-point gap, but the model cannot see the quarterback change, which is worth about that much, so on this game our number is not informative. Midweek the line was Eagles -4.5 and it has come back to -3.5 at every book with a live spread, a move toward Chicago after the Williams news was largely known. Philadelphia is also missing Dallas Goedert, Hollywood Brown and tackle Fred Johnson. Bagent is 2-2 as a starter and Chicago is 3-0 ATS as a home dog under Ben Johnson. I lean Bears +3.5, not a bet: a backup quarterback against a strong defense is a real hole, and the lean rests on the move and the hook.

Total. No real view. The total opened 43.5 to 48.5 and has fallen to 42 to 42.5 as the Williams injury firmed up (it was 41.5 at one point midweek). Our totals model says 46.0, about 44.8 after its high bias, but its QB-disruption flag did not fire, so it has not priced a backup quarterback. The under case: a backup quarterback for Chicago, Philadelphia missing Goedert and Hollywood Brown, and a Bears team that scored three points last week. The over case: both Eagles games went over, Barkley and DeVonta Smith are back, and the weather is mild. With the market already down five points from the high openers, I hold no read.

Where our number looks wrong.Badly here: it prices Chicago with Caleb Williams, who is out. Adjusting for a backup quarterback takes Bears by 1 to roughly Eagles by 3 to 4, i.e. the market.

Keys to the game
  • Caleb Williams ruled out with hamstring injury
  • Tyson Bagent returned to practice Saturday without limitations
  • Line moved from Eagles -4.5 back to -3.5 after Bagent's Saturday practice return
What beats it

On the spread. Ben Johnson has not named a starter, and Case Keenum was the plan for most of the week; if Bagent is not fully cleared or Johnson prefers Keenum's within-system rep count, none of this materializes and Chicago is exactly the shorthanded team the -3.5 number describes.

On the total. If Bagent starts over Keenum, Chicago's offense likely outperforms the pricing baked into the current total, which would push toward the over relative to the current number.

Read Buck's full case

Spread.Philadelphia is priced a 3.5-point road favorite after a week of real quarterback-driven volatility for Chicago: the line swung from a Bears-competitive look pre-injury to Eagles -4.5 when Caleb Williams (hamstring) and Tyson Bagent (concussion protocol) were both sidelined, then eased back to -3.5 as Bagent returned to full practice Saturday and re-entered the picture as a possible starter over third-stringer Case Keenum. That move already shows the market absorbing the news well - this is not an inefficiency to point to directly. What is left is a genuinely unresolved coin flip: no starter was named as of Saturday, and the outcome distribution is skewed, since a Bagent start (a veteran of real starts, familiar with this staff) likely plays closer to the current number than a Keenum start would, which the market may be underweighting slightly relative to a blended expectation. Philadelphia also has its own subtractions (Goedert, M. Brown out; Greenard questionable). That skew, not a strong conviction, is why I would take Chicago's points as a lean rather than pass entirely.

Total. The total has already fallen roughly 4-6 points from its opening range (44-48.5) down to 42-42.5, which the market explicitly attributes to Caleb Williams' absence being worth about six points of expected production. Add the Eagles' own losses at tight end (Goedert) and depth receiver (M. Brown), and the number already reflects a backup-QB, banged-up-catching-corps environment on both sides. There is no fact here beyond what has already been priced - the Bagent-vs-Keenum question cuts against total scoring either way depending on who starts, and it cannot be resolved with confidence. No independent view here.

More key facts
  • Oddsmakers price Williams' absence at roughly six points to spread/total
  • Eagles are without TE Dallas Goedert and WR Marquise Brown

The call, written up

On the spread

Philadelphia at Chicago, Chicago +3.5. The Bears opened 1.5-point favorites before Caleb Williams' hamstring injury flipped the line to Eagles -4.5, and it has eased back to -3.5 since Tyson Bagent returned to full practice Saturday and re-entered the picture over third-stringer Case Keenum, with no starter named as of Saturday. Philadelphia is missing tight end Dallas Goedert, receiver Marquise Brown and tackle Fred Johnson, with Jonathan Greenard questionable. Chicago is also down linebacker Noah Sewell and defensive lineman Shemar Turner. Our own model likes Chicago by 1 against a market of 3.5, a 4.5 point gap, but the model does not know Williams is out, so it carries no informative lean here. The strongest case against is that Keenum, not Bagent, could end up starting, and Philadelphia still has Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith available to punish a shorthanded backfield. Take Chicago +3.5 at DraftKings, -110.

On the total

Under 42.5. The total opened in the mid-to-high 40s and has fallen to 42 to 42.5 as Williams' injury firmed up, a drop of roughly five points. Soldier Field weather is mild with light wind, no material factor. Chicago is replacing Williams with either Bagent or Keenum, still unresolved as of Saturday, and Philadelphia is missing Dallas Goedert and Marquise Brown. The counter case is that a Bagent start, rather than Keenum, could push Chicago's offense past what the backup-QB discount already prices in. Take the under at 42.5, -115, DraftKings.

Descriptive context, every line with the games it counts. Filters like these did not hold up as predictors in our testing, so none of this feeds a call and none of it is a reason a pick wins. Situational splits look back 3 seasons and need at least 8 decided games to be shown at all. Records against the number and on the total are graded at each game's closing line, the last quote before kickoff at DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM. A game we have no capture for is graded at the number the league data carries.
