Keys to the game
  • Arizona's final report ruled out Love, Williams Jr. and Wingard, and listed Baker, Crawford, Collins and Gillikin questionable.
  • Los Angeles listed Curl and McDuffie questionable, with McDuffie held out Friday and Curl held out Friday after limited Thursday work.
What beats it

On the spread. Arizona's missing runner and depleted safety group can make the market move insufficient, particularly if Baker and Crawford cannot play while Curl and McDuffie suit up. Stafford, Nacua and Adams can turn the Cardinals' thin secondary into a margin that defeats even +13.5.

On the total. Arizona's secondary absences and the Rams' intact passing weapons can produce quick scores, while a compromised Cardinals defense may give Arizona extra possessions chasing the game indoors.

Read Ace's full case

Spread.Market first, the Rams are priced as a huge favorite because Arizona is 1-4, traded Marvin Harrison Jr., has lost running back Jeremiyah Love and three safeties, while Los Angeles just produced 34 points against Buffalo. The spread also rose from the earlier DraftKings -10.5 capture to -12.5, so that case is already reflected. The Rams are on six days of rest after Monday overtime, and their own secondary has two questionable starters. This is strictly a number-based Cardinals lean, not a ratings wager. Our spread number is only 1.6 points from this quote and has no demonstrated ATS edge, so I pass rather than treat the headline injury imbalance as a reason to lay or take a large number.

Total.Fresh read remains Under 52.5 as a lean, consistent with the locked panel result, but not a new bet at -119. The strongest market explanation for a 51.5 to 52.5 total is Los Angeles scoring 34 against Buffalo and Arizona's depleted secondary, with SoFi removing weather resistance. The counterweight is more concrete for Arizona's scoring ceiling: Love is out, Harrison has been traded, and the Cardinals enter with multiple defensive absences that can create a one-sided, lower-possession script. Our 50.1 model is only context because its holdout error trailed the market. The prior lock remains unchanged.

Where our number looks wrong. The model looks wrong as a pricing tool here: its calibrated Rams -11.9 does not incorporate the Harrison trade or current injury designations, and its own development ATS record gives no basis to call the market's larger Rams number an error.

More key facts
  • Arizona ruled Love out, reported Beck limited without a designation, and listed four players questionable.
  • Cardinals reporting noted Harrison's trade, Love's absence, and the challenge of establishing the run against the Rams front.
  • The Rams lost 37-34 in overtime to Buffalo, and Stafford passed for 383 yards and three touchdowns.

Keys to the game
  • Cardinals out: Love, Williams, Wingard; questionable: Baker, Collins, Crawford, Gillikin. Rams questionable: Curl, McDuffie, nine removed.
  • Harrison Jr. traded to Texans for 2027 second and sixth round picks.
  • Bills 37, Rams 34 in overtime; blocked Rams field goal; Stafford 383 yards.
What beats it

On the spread. Thirteen points is a lot to lay with a kicking unit that just had a field goal blocked and missed a PAT, on a short week after an overtime Monday game. A late Arizona backdoor cover is live because the Rams may lean on the run in the fourth quarter. Mike LaFleur coached under McVay for three seasons and knows the Rams calls, and division underdogs at double digits get there often enough that the cover is far from automatic.

On the total. Arizona has allowed 30 or more in every loss and now starts depleted safeties against Nacua and Adams in a dome, so the Rams alone could push 35. Garbage time scoring from a trailing Brissett offense against a Rams prevent shell can carry this past 51.5.

Spread. That number reflects a Rams passing game that leads the league in yards against an Arizona defense allowing a league high 32.4 points per game. The news since Monday leans toward Los Angeles. Arizona traded Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston on 10/12, ruled out Jeremiyah Love, and has safeties Wydett Williams and Andrew Wingard out with Budda Baker and Kitan Crawford questionable after not practicing or practicing limited, which leaves a thin back end facing Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. The Rams cleared nine players from their report. Against that, the Rams kicking game cost them the Buffalo game, they are on six days of rest after an overtime Monday game, and this is a division spot where LaFleur knows the McVay system.

Total. Our model says 50.1, about 48.9 after its known high bias. The over case is serious: the Rams lead the league in passing yards, Arizona allows 32.4 points a game with two safeties out, and the game is indoors. The under case is that Arizona's own scoring has been gutted, with Harrison traded, Love out and a backup left tackle, so the Rams may carry most of the points and salt the fourth quarter with a big lead. I lean under at 51.5, recorded beside the locked Under 52.5, but the value has mostly been taken by the move off 52.5.

Where our number looks wrong. Our rating only learns from final margins, so it has not absorbed the Harrison trade, the Love absence or the loss of two starting safeties for Arizona. It also still carries the 2025 Rams prior while the Rams are 2-3, but the losses were close and the market is pricing their passing efficiency correctly. If anything our -11.9 is a touch short of a fair number near 13.

More key facts
  • Arizona allows 32.4 points per game; Brissett stays the starter; Paris Johnson Jr. out for season.
  • Cardinals 2-8 ATS in last 10; Rams 7-3 ATS last 10 versus Arizona; FanDuel had Rams -12.5 at open of week.
  • Cardinals out list includes Love, Williams, Wingard.
  • Arizona allows 32.4 points per game; writer projects Rams 34, Cardinals 20.

Keys to the game
  • Rams Week 6 injury report: McDuffie and Curl questionable
  • Cardinals injury news, Love ankle, safeties out, Williams in concussion protocol
  • Betting preview: Rams favored big, Arizona has surrendered 30 or more in each loss
What beats it

On the spread. Arizona's defense is depleted in the secondary, Love is out or limited, and the Rams have scored heavily in recent games. A multi-score Rams win in a dome against a team giving up 30 or more each loss is the base case. If McDuffie and Jackson's replacement hold up, the number is fair.

On the total. Both defenses have been poor, the dome removes weather, and Brissett threw 47 times last week. Garbage-time scoring by Arizona can push this over if the Rams build an early lead.

Read Buck's full case

Spread. The strongest explanation for Rams -12.5 is simple: Arizona has allowed 30 or more points in each of its four losses, Los Angeles has Stafford leading the league in passing volume, and Arizona is down safeties Wingard and Williams plus RB Love (ankle, did not practice Wednesday). What it may not fully price is Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson missing the game on a suspension, CB Trent McDuffie listed questionable with a groin issue, and Kam Curl added to the report, while Arizona's passing game showed life last week (Brissett 29 of 47, 292 yards, 3 TD at Detroit). A number this large in a division game leaves room for a backdoor cover, but the case is thin and rests on a few availability items I could not confirm past Wednesday. A mild lean on the points, not a bet.

Total. The market total of 51.5 to 52.5 prices a Rams offense that leads the league in passing volume against an Arizona defense that has allowed 30 or more in every loss, and the game is indoors. That is a real case for the over. Against it, the Rams tackle suspension and a possibly thin Rams secondary cut both ways, Arizona's offense loses Love, and a 13-point favorite tends to run clock in the second half. Books have drifted the total down at BetMGM while DraftKings and FanDuel moved it up from 50.5, so the market is split.

The call, written up

On the total

Under 52.5. The case is that 52.5 prices the Rams scoring 34 in Monday overtime loss while Arizona has lost Harrison and has a reshuffled offensive line. BetMGM moved down from 52.5 to 52, and our model at 50.1 sits below the market, though that is a small gap for a model with a weak totals record. The counter-case is that Arizona has allowed 36 or more points three games in a row, Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards against Buffalo, and the game is indoors.

How to read this page

The calls come first on this page: the spread and the total, each a Pick or a Lean, then Ace, Stack and Buck one by one. The market's number, our number and the gap between them sit further down as MODEL CONTEXT: that is the input our analyst panel argued from, not a call of its own. A Pick is our strongest call and goes on the record. A Lean is which way we lean on a game and is not a pick. The meter shows how strongly the panel backs the call. The totals number is a registered candidate that loses to the closing total: across 1,087 held out games it missed the combined score by 10.46 points on average and the closing total missed by 10.189, ahead of us in all 4 of those seasons, so it never posts to the board and never enters the record on its own.

Trends and splits

Descriptive context, every line with the games it counts. Filters like these did not hold up as predictors in our testing, so none of this feeds a call and none of it is a reason a pick wins. Situational splits look back 3 seasons and need at least 8 decided games to be shown at all. Records against the number and on the total are graded at each game's closing line, the last quote before kickoff at DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM. A game we have no capture for is graded at the number the league data carries.
