Keys to the game
  • Hurts is on injured reserve, McKee is scheduled to start again, and Philadelphia has replaced retired RT Lane Johnson and traded C Cam Jurgens.
  • Barkley was limited, while Smith, Goedert and Wicks did not participate in Thursday practice.
  • Durant, Guyton and Pickens were upgraded to full participation Friday.
What beats it

On the spread. McKee's first start came behind a compromised Eagles line, and Philadelphia could again be without Smith, Goedert and Wicks while Barkley remains limited. Dallas also has returning defensive personnel, so a one-score cushion does not clear the bar for a bet.

On the total. Dallas has allowed at least 20 points in every game, Barkley's return would stabilize Philadelphia's offense, and clear mild weather provides no independent under support. The full move from 47.5 leaves limited margin for another under bet.

Read Ace's full case

Spread.Market first: Dallas moved from an underdog at early DraftKings and FanDuel openers to a 4.5 point favorite after Hurts went to injured reserve, with Philadelphia also losing Lane Johnson and trading Cam Jurgens. That is the strongest explanation for the present number, and it is real rather than noise. I still lean Eagles plus 4.5. Dallas has scored 29 points across its past two games, Prescott has thrown four interceptions in that span, and its defense has allowed at least 20 points in every game. Philadelphia can get Barkley and Landon Dickerson back, while Dallas is missing Turpin and dealing with its own offensive-line questions. The market has already charged Philadelphia heavily for Hurts and its damaged offense, so plus 4.5 is the only side I would hold. This is a pass because Smith, Goedert and other Eagles pass catchers were still out of Thursday practice, while Barkley was limited. Our number supports Philadelphia but has no demonstrated ATS edge and is especially ill-suited to Hurts' absence.

Total.Market first: the total fell from 47.5 at the early DraftKings and FanDuel openers to 44.5, principally reflecting Hurts' move to injured reserve and Philadelphia's depleted supporting cast. Under 44.5 remains a lean, not a new bet. McKee is making his second start, Philadelphia's top available skill players have unresolved practice absences, and Dallas scored only 13 against Green Bay after producing 16 the prior week. Those conditions support the existing lock. The over case is meaningful: Dallas still owns a productive season offense, its defense has allowed at least 20 points in every game, Barkley could return, and the weather forecast is mild and dry. Our 46.67 total model is not persuasive because it still assumes Hurts and carries a documented upward tendency.

Where our number looks wrong. The model's Philadelphia minus 3.7 is not usable as a current estimate because its projected quarterback remains Hurts and it does not absorb the loss of Hurts, Lane Johnson or Cam Jurgens. Its documented ATS record gives no basis to treat the 8.2 point gap as a priced edge.

More key facts
  • McKee is set to make his second straight start, Barkley could return, and Dallas has scored 29 points across its past two games.
  • Barkley was limited, while Smith, Goedert and Wicks did not participate Thursday.
  • Forecast listed 59 degrees, no precipitation and calm wind at kickoff.

Keys to the game
  • Hurts on IR, McKee starts; Barkley limited and expected to play; DeVonta Smith, Wicks, Goedert, Nolan Smith did not practice Thursday or Friday; Greenard out Friday
  • Barkley resumed practicing Thursday, first work since Week 4 hamstring injury
  • DraftKings Cowboys -4.5 (-112), both teams 2-4, Dallas 31st defensive EPA per play, Philadelphia 31st offensive EPA per play, Eagles 1-5 ATS and 0-3 ATS at home
What beats it

On the spread. McKee is throwing to a depleted group with DeVonta Smith, Goedert and Wicks all missing practice, and the Eagles averaged the fewest yards per play in the league. If Barkley is limited or setbacks Saturday, Philadelphia may struggle to reach 17, while a Dallas offense ranked 8th in EPA per play faces an edge rush missing Nolan Smith and possibly Greenard. Philadelphia is 0-3 ATS at home.

On the total. Dallas's defense is 31st in EPA per play and a Barkley return gives McKee a real run game, while the Eagles' tired defense has leaked late scoring. Mild, clear weather removes any environmental help for the under, and one Dallas blowout script could clear 44 alone.

Read Stack's full case

Spread.Market first: Dallas -4.5 is a fair read of a quarterback downgrade. Philadelphia opened around a short favorite at DraftKings and FanDuel, then flipped to +4.5 once Jalen Hurts went to injured reserve with a blood clot, and Tanner McKee's first start produced 14 points. Our number of Eagles -3.7 still carries Hurts as the projected quarterback, so the 8.2 point gap is mostly a stale input, not an edge. What keeps me on the Eagles side as a lean: BetMGM opened Dallas -6 and has come down to 4.5 while the other books held, Saquon Barkley returned to limited practice and is reported in line to play, the Dallas defense ranks 31st in EPA per play, and Prescott has posted his two lowest yards per attempt marks in his two outdoor games. A division home dog catching more than four with a full strength interior defense (Carter, Davis, Baun all full participants) is a modest value. What holds it to a lean: DeVonta Smith, Goedert and Wicks did not practice, so McKee's receiver room is thin, and the edge rush is missing Nolan Smith with Greenard out Friday.

Total.Market first: the total fell from 47.5 to 44 and 44.5 on the Hurts injury, which is the right direction. Over case: Dallas has a top eight offense by EPA, Philadelphia's pass defense ranks 25th in EPA per pass, the Eagles allow nearly 10 fourth quarter points per game, and the forecast is mild and clear. Under case: McKee leads an offense 31st in EPA per play that just scored 14, and he loses DeVonta Smith, Goedert and Wicks; Prescott's two outdoor games produced his two lowest yards per attempt marks; Turpin's absence trims Dallas return value. Our model's 46.67 minus its 1.2 point holdout bias is about 45.5, and it still assumes Hurts, so the adjusted read sits at or below the market. I lean under 44.5, matching the lock, but not as a bet.

Where our number looks wrong. The rating projects Jalen Hurts at quarterback and reads Philadelphia as a 3.7 point favorite. Hurts is on injured reserve and McKee is starting, which is worth several points on its own, and the Eagles are also without DeVonta Smith, Goedert and Wicks plus right tackle Lane Johnson (retired per SI). The 8.2 point gap and the moderate home lean should be discarded; the honest gap after the quarterback change is close to zero.

More key facts
  • McKee threw for 215 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT in his first start, a 14 point Eagles output
  • Prescott's yards per attempt was 5.1 and 4.8 in his two outdoor games; Eagles allow nearly 10 fourth quarter points per game
  • Eagles pass catchers DeVonta Smith, Wicks and Goedert did not practice Thursday or Friday
  • Monday sunny, high near 69; Monday night mostly clear, low around 50
  • Eagles 31st in offensive EPA per play, Dallas 8th on offense and 31st on defense

  • Eagles-Cowboys Week 7 injury report analysis naming Barkley, Devonta Smith and Goedert
  • Turpin ribs expected out, Winters likely to miss time, Overshown expected back for Dallas
What beats it

On the spread. Philadelphia at home on Monday night after eight days of rest, a division rivalry, and a defense that can pressure Prescott. Dallas scored 13 at Green Bay, and a 4.5 point road number with a weaker defense is not cheap. If Barkley and Smith return fully, the Eagles offense is closer to normal and the points on offer for the home side look right.

On the total. Dallas has been a high scoring offense and Philadelphia's defense allowed 25 to Carolina. Barkley returning would lift the Eagles, and a garbage time score from either side would beat a short under.

Read Buck's full case

Spread. The market has Dallas a 4.5 point road favorite at a 2-4 Philadelphia that is starting Tanner McKee for the second straight week with Jalen Hurts on injured reserve for blood clots. The strongest explanation for a number this short is respect for Philadelphia's home field, its defense and the division rivalry, plus Dallas scoring only 13 at Green Bay. The line also opened as low as Dallas -1.5 at DraftKings and has moved toward Dallas, which fits the Hurts news. The Eagles are thin: Barkley limited with a hamstring, Goedert, Devonta Smith and Wicks not practicing on Wednesday. Dallas has its own holes (Turpin out, Winters out, Shelton not practicing). I lean Dallas at the captured -4.5 but the case rests on quarterback gap and skill-player health, not a proven price edge, so this is a lean rather than a bet.

Total. The total fell from 47.5 at the DraftKings and FanDuel openers to 44 or 44.5 as Hurts went to injured reserve, so the market has already priced a lower Eagles scoring level. The best case for the number is that Dallas can score on its own and Philadelphia allowed 25 to Carolina. The case for the under is a McKee led offense that managed 14 points and 215 passing yards last week, a depleted Eagles skill group, and Dallas scoring 13 at Green Bay. Weather is mild and adds no angle. Our own Under 44.5 is already locked at high, so this fresh read agrees but only as a lean at the captured 44 or 44.5.

The call, written up

On the spread

Dallas at Philadelphia, Philadelphia +4.5. DraftKings moved from Philadelphia -1.5 to +4.5, while BetMGM moved from +6 to +4.5. Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve and Tanner McKee is set for a second straight start, reported October 21, 2026. On October 22, Saquon Barkley was limited, while DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert did not practice. Our rating makes Philadelphia a 3.7 point favorite, but it still projects Hurts and does not adequately account for his absence or Philadelphia's depleted offense, so its apparent gap is not a priced edge. The counter-case is Dallas: McKee is working with an uncertain receiver group, and Dallas had Durant, Guyton and Pickens upgraded to full participation October 23. Take Philadelphia +4.5 at -108 at DraftKings.

On the total

Under 44.5. The total fell from 47.5 at the DraftKings and FanDuel openers to 44.5 as Hurts went to injured reserve. The forecast is mild, about 57 to 60 degrees with light wind, so weather adds no support. Counter-case: Dallas averages 25.2 points a game, Philadelphia allowed 25 to Carolina, and a Barkley return would lift the Eagles. Take Under 44.5 at -110 at DraftKings.

The total

Under 44.5 (Pick). Under 44.5. DraftKings moved from 47.5 to 44.5, reflecting Hurts' absence and Philadelphia's unsettled skill group. McKee is making his second straight start, and Barkley was limited while Smith and Goedert did not practice October 22. The October 23 forecast called for clear conditions, about 59 degrees, and no rain, offering no weather case. Our 46.67 total sits only 2.17 points above this number, within the NFL totals model's noise. The counter-case is a Barkley return and a Dallas defense that has allowed at least 20 points in every game. Take Under 44.5 at -110 at DraftKings.
