Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks. Lean: Kansas City Chiefs +2.5. Lean: Under 42.5.
The call
The panelists
- Week 7 official report lists Chiefs Rice, Simmons and Moore as DNP, Kelce and Sneed limited, and Mahomes full; it also lists Seattle's Bradford limited, Charbonnet full and Lawrence DNP.
- Seattle said Bradford returned to practice and Charbonnet could play Sunday.
- DraftKings splits showed more Chiefs tickets but more Seattle spread money at the listed -2.5.
On the spread. Mahomes was full in practice, the Chiefs still lead the league in yards per game, and a favorable resolution for Kelce, Sneed and the tackles would leave Seattle laying a fully priced number after the move.
On the total. The total move may correctly reflect Rice and tackle absences, Seattle's defensive personnel can pressure a depleted line, and any further weather deterioration would strengthen the already priced under case.

Spread.Market first: Seattle moved from roughly -1.5 to -2.5 while Kansas City has drawn most spread tickets, indicating the number already accounts for Seattle home field and concern around Kansas City's offensive availability. I lean Seattle -2.5, not a bet. The official report lists Rice, Simmons and Moore as nonparticipants, with Kelce and Sneed limited, while Mahomes practiced fully. Seattle has potential offensive reinforcements in Bradford and Charbonnet, but DeMarcus Lawrence also missed practice. Seattle's movement is meaningful, yet the captured -2.5 has already consumed the best part of that move and sits short of the key number only by half a point. The model's -1.9 offers no support, and its documented ATS record makes the 0.6-point disagreement immaterial. The lean is market and roster-context driven, capped by unresolved practice designations.
Total.Market first: the total fell from 44.5 at DraftKings and FanDuel to 42.5, plausibly pricing Kansas City's Rice and tackle absences plus Seattle's recent lower-scoring game. I still lean over 42.5 at -110. The weather forecast is mild, with only a light wind, so it supplies no fresh suppression case. Kansas City brings the league's top yardage offense and 28.0 points per game, while Seattle averages 24.7 points. Our 44.55 model is weak and historically high, so its adjusted context is only modestly above the line, not a standalone edge. The early total move and unresolved offensive availability keep this a pass, but 42.5 is the best captured over price and leaves a small contrarian case if the market has overreacted to early-week injury information.
Where our number looks wrong. The spread model has Seattle -1.9 despite the market settling at -2.5 after opening closer to Seattle -1.5 to -2. Its own documented 47.6% ATS development result means that small difference is not actionable, and its final-margin framework is poorly suited to price Kansas City's multiple offensive-line and receiver availability concerns.
- NFL Game Center lists Kansas City at 28.0 points and 414.0 yards per game, and Seattle at 24.7 points per game.
- The official injury report lists Rice, Simmons and Moore as nonparticipants and Kelce limited.
- The game-specific NOAA NWS forecast showed 56°F, 3 mph north wind and 33% rain chance at kickoff.
- Chiefs 5-0, Seahawks 3-3; Kansas City first in net yards per play and top five in offensive and defensive EPA and success rate; Seattle 25th offense EPA, last in rush EPA; BetMGM Seattle -2.5, total 42.5
- Seattle opened as a 1.5 point favorite and moved to -2.5; Kansas City third in offensive EPA, Seattle second in defensive EPA
- Seattle second in EPA allowed per play and in pressure rate per dropback; Simmons still working back, Jaylon Moore in concussion protocol; analyst leans Seattle and the under
On the spread. Seattle's pass rush is the best unit on the field and Kansas City may start a backup left tackle, which is exactly where Mahomes struggles under pressure. The Chiefs' early schedule (Denver, Indianapolis, Miami, Las Vegas, Chargers) flatters their efficiency numbers, Seattle has 10 days to prepare at home in prime time, and the line move from -1.5 to -2.5 is the market telling us the respected side is Seattle. If Simmons and Rice are out again, a field goal Seattle win is a very ordinary outcome.
On the total. Darnold's turnover habit can give Kansas City short fields, Kenneth Walker III gives the Chiefs an efficient ground game, and Seattle on extra rest could script early points. The head to head over is 4-1 in the last five meetings, and our model sits above the line even after its bias adjustment.

Spread.Market first: Seattle -2.5 says the market rates the two teams about even on a neutral field and gives Seattle home field plus a rest edge, 10 days after a Thursday loss in Denver against 7 for Kansas City. The news leans the other way from the move: Kansas City is 5-0, first in net yards per play and the only team top five in offensive and defensive EPA and success rate, while Darnold has seven interceptions and Seattle sits 25th in offensive EPA and last in rush EPA. Holding the key number of 3 with the better team at plus money is worth a lean on the Chiefs, but the steam against it and the open tackle and Rice questions keep it short of a bet.
Total.Kansas City held the Chargers to six points in Week 6 and Seattle held Denver to 17 in overtime. Our model says 44.55, about 43.3 after its known upward bias, which is too close to the line to matter. The over case is Darnold's turnovers handing Mahomes short fields and a possible wet but not windy night. I lean under 42.5 on matchup, not a bet.
Where our number looks wrong. The rating still leans on 2025 priors: it has Seattle (4.07) above Kansas City (3.78) even though the Chiefs are 5-0 with top five efficiency on both sides and Seattle is 3-3 with a bottom ten offense. On 2026 form alone the Chiefs look like the stronger team, so if anything our home number is too generous to Seattle.
- Darnold overtime interception set up Denver's 17-14 win; seven interceptions this season
- Rashee Rice ruled out for Week 6 with a hamstring injury; Josh Simmons also out
- Both offenses eat clock and rarely go no huddle; neither defense gives up many big plays; analyst leans under 42.5
- Chiefs defense held the Chargers to six points in Week 6; opening total 42.5 at DraftKings
- Over 4-1 in the last five meetings; under 3-2 in the Chiefs' last five games
- Seattle opened at -1.5 and moved to -2.5, Chiefs 5-0, Seahawks 3-3, total 42.5
- Chiefs defense held the Chargers to six points; Darnold turnover concerns after Denver loss
On the spread. Seattle is the defending champion at home on a short week of rest advantage, with Walker facing his old team, Charbonnet possibly returning, and Kansas City's perfect record may owe to narrow margins and tackle and receiver injuries. A Seattle win by a field goal loses this side.
On the total. Most of the move toward the under has already happened, Mahomes and Walker can score on a short field, and Darnold turnovers can give Kansas City extra possessions that push the game over a low number.

Spread. The market makes Seattle a short home favorite, which is the strongest explanation for the number: home field, a rested defending champion coming off a Thursday game, and a Chiefs team that has not been dominant by margin. Against that, Kansas City arrives unbeaten at 5-0 with a defense that held the Chargers to six points, and Mahomes practiced fully. Seattle is 3-3 and just lost at Denver with Darnold throwing multiple interceptions. The spread opened at 1.5 to 2.5 and sits at a key number of 2.5, so the home side is being priced at a premium to a better-record visitor. Missing pieces on the Chiefs are Rashee Rice (hamstring, did not practice) and tackle depth. That is real but already reflected in the move off the open. I hold a lean on the Chiefs at the captured plus 2.5, not a bet, because the evidence is mostly record and form and I could not verify the final injury report.
Total. The case for the under is a Kansas City defense that allowed six points last week and a Seattle offense that has been turnover prone. The case for the over is two quality offenses, Mahomes and Walker for Kansas City against a Seattle defense that was strong last year, plus a primetime game with short fields from turnovers.

The calls come first on this page: the spread and the total, each a Pick or a Lean, then Ace, Stack and Buck one by one. The market's number, our number and the gap between them sit further down as MODEL CONTEXT: that is the input our analyst panel argued from, not a call of its own. A Pick is our strongest call and goes on the record. A Lean is which way we lean on a game and is not a pick. The meter shows how strongly the panel backs the call. The numbers the panel argued from. Our models price a game, the panel makes the call, and the calls above are the call. Nothing in this block is a call. Where the panel's written case cites a raw number of its own, the calibrated number is the one printed here.
The totals number is a registered candidate that loses to the closing total: across 1,087 held out games it missed the combined score by 10.46 points on average and the closing total missed by 10.189, ahead of us in all 4 of those seasons, so it never posts to the board and never enters the record on its own.

Trends and splits
Descriptive context, every line with the games it counts. Filters like these did not hold up as predictors in our testing, so none of this feeds a call and none of it is a reason a pick wins. Situational splits look back 3 seasons and need at least 8 decided games to be shown at all. Records against the number and on the total are graded at each game's closing line, the last quote before kickoff at DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM.
