Los Angeles Rams at Las Vegas Raiders. Lean: Las Vegas Raiders +3.5. Lean: Over 48.
The call
The panelists
- Final report lists Nacua questionable, Landman out, and McDuffie questionable. It also says Nacua was limited Thursday and did not practice Friday.
- Raiders final report lists Bowers, Miller, Walker and Hemingway without designations, and Washington questionable.
- Raiders reported 27 points per game, 14 Cousins passing touchdowns, and a three-game losing streak after a 3-0 start.
On the spread. The Rams retain a strong schematic passing matchup. Los Angeles ranks 10th in offensive EPA per play and the Raiders rank 25th in EPA allowed per dropback in the cited matchup data, so a normal Nacua workload could make the current adjustment insufficient.
On the total. If Nacua sits or is limited, Stafford is without Adams and may lack enough receiving depth to exploit Las Vegas' pass-defense weakness. Landman's absence helps the over, but a slowed Rams offense is the clearest path under 48.

Spread. The strongest explanation for Rams -3 to -3.5 is that the market has repriced Los Angeles from the opener after a 2-4 start, Davante Adams' multiweek absence, and Friday uncertainty around Puka Nacua, while Las Vegas is 3-3 and scoring 27 points per game with Kirk Cousins. That adjustment is substantial, but +3.5 remains a lean to Las Vegas because the Raiders' offense has been materially better than last season and the Rams could be without both primary wideouts. The home side also has a healthy Brock Bowers and Kolton Miller after full Friday practices. I pass rather than bet because Nacua's status is unresolved and the market has already moved three to four points toward Las Vegas. Our Rams -6.2 context is not persuasive enough to oppose that repricing.
Total. The strongest explanation for 48 to 48.5 is an indoor matchup between offenses that have recently produced volatile, high-scoring games, especially a Raiders attack averaging 27 points with Cousins' 14 passing touchdowns. The upward movement from some 47-point openers says the market has not treated Los Angeles' receiver injuries as an automatic under signal. Over 48 at BetMGM is a small lean because Las Vegas has the offensive form to supply its share and the Rams' depleted linebacker and cornerback depth reduces their defensive margin. It is not a bet: Adams is already out, Nacua could sit, and that concentration of Rams receiver uncertainty can directly suppress Stafford's output.
Where our number looks wrong. The rating is too Rams-friendly. Its Rams -6.2 number conflicts with a 2-4 current-season profile, the loss of Adams, Nacua's new calf designation, and the Raiders' improved Cousins offense. Its own documented preseason-prior and roster-change blind spots are directly relevant here.
- Matchup data through Week 6 ranks the Rams offense 10th in EPA per play, the Raiders defense 22nd, and the Raiders pass defense 25th in EPA per dropback allowed.
- Raiders reported Cousins has 14 passing touchdowns, ranks among league leaders in passing yards and first downs, and leads a 27-point-per-game offense.
- Rams final report lists Nacua questionable, Landman out and McDuffie questionable. The team said Nacua's calf issue was minor but he did not practice Friday.
- Rams injury updates reported Adams out six to 10 weeks after a ruptured hamstring.
- Grupe and Ford out for the season, Adams and Turner out multiple weeks, McManus signed as third kicker; Raiders 3-3 under Kubiak; Cousins 313 yards vs Buffalo
- Rams 2-4 and Raiders 3-3; Rams injuries list Ford, Adams, Turner out and Garrett on IR; Rams 3-7 ATS last 10, Raiders 7-3 ATS last 10
- Spread opened Rams -7.5, now Rams -3.5 (-103); Nacua questionable (calf), Adams out (hamstring)
On the spread. The move may be an overreaction: Stafford is healthy, the Rams were a strong team last year, Las Vegas has a negative point profile in underlying efficiency per SI, and if Nacua and McDuffie both play the Rams roster looks much closer to its rating. The juice on +3.5 is already -120 or worse, and the Raiders running game could be without Washington.
On the total. If Nacua sits, the Rams offense without Adams could stall as it did in a 16 point game against Arizona, McVay may lean on the run and the clock with a weakened defense, the Rams have a new kicker, and recent meetings have gone under five of six times.

Spread.Market first: the number has collapsed from Rams -7 to -7.5 on the look ahead lines to a 3 and 3.5 split today, and the strongest explanation is the Rams injury pile, not a Raiders upgrade. Los Angeles is 2-4 after an 18-16 loss to Arizona, lost Davante Adams and Kobie Turner for multiple weeks, lost Poona Ford for the season, is on its third kicker of the year, has Myles Garrett on IR, Nate Landman ruled out, and both Puka Nacua (calf) and Trent McDuffie (groin) questionable after missing Thursday practice. Las Vegas is 3-3 and 5-1 ATS under Klint Kubiak with Kirk Cousins throwing for 313 yards against Buffalo, and its own report is mostly full participants. Our number of Rams by 6.2 cannot see any of that roster damage, so I discount it heavily. The market has priced most of the news, which keeps this a lean rather than a bet, but the hook at 3.5 on the home side is the side I would take today: the Rams roster that earned last season's rating is not the one taking the field.
Total. The total has drifted up from 46.5 to 47.5 on the opening numbers to 48 to 48.5, so the market has already leaned over. Our totals model reads 49.8, which is about 48.6 after the known 1.2 point upward bias, essentially the market. For the over: indoors, the Rams defense is without Ford, Turner, Garrett and Landman with McDuffie questionable, and Cousins just threw for 313 against Buffalo in a 63 point game; both teams are 6-4 to the over over their last 10 per SI. For the under: the Rams offense is without Adams and maybe Nacua, a new kicker adds missed kick risk, the Rams just scored 16 against Arizona, and the head to head under is 5-1 in recent meetings. The defensive attrition is the bigger edge, so a slight lean over at 48.5, not a bet.
Where our number looks wrong. The rating still carries the 12-5 Rams and the 3-14 Raiders priors and only learns from margins. It does not see Adams, Turner, Ford, Garrett, Landman and the kicker churn, nor Nacua and McDuffie being questionable, and it underrates a Raiders team that has covered five of six under a new staff. Rams by 6.2 is a stale number, and the four point market move is the more credible read.
- Cardinals beat the Rams 18-16 on a last second field goal, dropping Los Angeles to 2-4
- Raiders 5-1 ATS this season and 4-1 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 or more; Rams -3.5 at FanDuel
- Total 48.5 now, opened 46.5
- Both teams 6-4 to the over in their last 10; under 5-1 in the last six meetings; Rams defensive injuries listed
- Raiders lost 33-30 to Buffalo, Cousins 313 yards and 2 TD
- Rams -4.5 (-105) at BetMGM, Rams 2-4, Raiders 3-3, Raiders 26th in net yards per play and 29th in rush success rate
On the spread. If Nacua and McDuffie both sit, the Rams are thin at receiver and cornerback with Adams already out, and Las Vegas at home with Cousins keeps it within a field goal or wins outright. A 2-4 team laying points on the road with an injured offense is a poor spot, and the three seems fair after the move.
On the total. Dome conditions, Stafford's volume, a depleted Rams front seven and a Raiders defense with weak underlying numbers could push this over 50. The six-meeting under trend involves different rosters and is not evidence.

Spread.Strongest explanation for the number first: the market opened Rams -5.5 to -7 and has fallen to -3 to -3.5, and SI had BetMGM at Rams -4.5 on Oct 20. That drop is explained by the Rams 2-4 start, Davante Adams out, and Puka Nacua (calf) and Trent McDuffie (groin) listed questionable after not practicing Thursday. The Raiders at 3-3 with Kirk Cousins playing well and a new coaching staff are being respected. The residual question is whether the move overshoots. Las Vegas ranks 26th in net yards per play and 29th in rush success rate per the SI preview, and a road favorite of three to three and a half against a weak underlying team is cheap if Nacua plays.
Total. The total sits at 48 to 48.5 across books, up from 47 to 48.5 at open for some books and 47.5 in the SI preview on Oct 20. The market is pricing a pass-heavy Rams offense (Stafford at 299 passing yards a game) against a Cousins-led Raiders offense. The under argument is a dome game where the Rams may be missing Nacua, Adams is out, and the Raiders struggle to run the ball, which shortens drives only if they stall, though. The over argument is that a dome helps Stafford and Cousins, and both defenses are thin up front with Kobie Turner out for the Rams. The under went 5-1 in the last six meetings per SI, which is old-roster noise. I lean under at 48.5, but with no weather or pace edge the case is thin.
- Total 47.5 at BetMGM, Stafford 299.0 passing yards per game, under 5-1 in last six meetings
The call, written up
Los Angeles Rams at Las Vegas Raiders, Rams -3.5. FanDuel moved from Rams -6.5 to -3.5, part of a broad repricing toward Las Vegas. On Oct. 23, Puka Nacua was questionable after a calf issue and did not practice Friday, while Davante Adams was reported out six to 10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring. That same day, Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and left tackle Kolton Miller were full participants with no designation. Two panels view the Rams rating as too favorable because it does not adequately reflect those absences and uncertainty. The dissent argues the move may have overshot: Las Vegas was ranked 26th in net yards per play in an Oct. 20 preview, and a normal Nacua workload would strengthen Los Angeles. Take Las Vegas +3.5 (-120) at FanDuel.
Over 48. BetMGM opened at 48 and remains there, while several other books moved from 47 or 47.5 to 48.5. Allegiant Stadium is indoors. On Oct. 22, Las Vegas reported 27 points per game and 14 Kirk Cousins passing touchdowns; on Oct. 23, Nacua was questionable and Adams remained out. The counter-case is that a limited or absent Nacua leaves the Rams without Adams and could suppress their offense. Take Over 48 (-110) at BetMGM.

The totals number is a registered candidate that loses to the closing total: across 1,087 held out games it missed the combined score by 10.46 points on average and the closing total missed by 10.189, ahead of us in all 4 of those seasons, so it never posts to the board and never enters the record on its own.

Trends and splits
Descriptive context, every line with the games it counts. Filters like these did not hold up as predictors in our testing, so none of this feeds a call and none of it is a reason a pick wins. Situational splits look back 3 seasons and need at least 8 decided games to be shown at all. Records against the number and on the total are graded at each game's closing line, the last quote before kickoff at DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM. A game we have no capture for is graded at the number the league data carries.
