Keys to the game
  • Florida defeated Ole Miss 52-28 and entered this game 4-0 after scoring 66, 52, 44 and 52 points.
  • Sumrall said Brown’s MRI showed no long-term issue, Stockton would be limited in practice, and Singleton would be full go.
  • Florida is 4-0 and Philo won the preseason quarterback competition.
What beats it

On the spread. The market’s three-point move has already paid for much of Florida’s new information, and a limited or absent Brown alongside a limited Stockton would make Missouri +5.5 the more attractive side in a lower-ceiling Florida offense.

On the total. Florida has scored at least 44 in each game, the forecast does not create a material weather obstacle, and Singleton’s return can offset any Brown or Stockton limitation, leaving 57.5 vulnerable to another efficient Florida performance.

Spread.Market first: Florida’s move from -2.5 to -5.5 is readily explained by its road win at Auburn, 52-28 win over then No. 4 Ole Miss, and unusually concentrated Florida public support. The captured market has already made a substantial adjustment, so this is not a blind reaction to the Gators’ scoring. I lean Florida -5 at BetMGM because quarterback Aaron Philo is established as the starter and Florida’s Ole Miss performance came against its first top-end opponent. Missouri’s 31-24 loss at Mississippi State and its listed absences at guard, tight end, receiver and running back further reduce its offensive margin for error. The rating’s Florida-by-7.7 number is only 2.7 points above the best captured Florida price and is not ATS-proven, so it adds context rather than enough separation for a bet. Florida receiver availability remains unsettled, which caps this at a lean.

Total.Market first: the total rose from 53.5 to 56.5 after Florida posted 52 points against Ole Miss and with strong early over interest, so the obvious offensive evidence is already reflected. I lean under only at the captured BetMGM 57.5, not at 56.5. Florida’s two unresolved receiver injuries can reduce explosive-play depth even if Brown plays, while Missouri’s listed losses include a guard, tight end, receiver and running back. That said, the forecast is benign and Florida’s offense has repeatedly exceeded this range, so neither weather nor the thin injury information supports a full-unit under. Our 56.69 total projection is effectively market agreement and has no demonstrated advantage over the market. This is a number-specific lean created by 57.5, not a broad anti-Florida scoring position.

Where our number looks wrong. The 7.7 Florida number may overstate a four-game sample dominated by Florida Atlantic and Campbell, and it cannot account for Florida’s injured receiver room or Missouri’s home field beyond a flat 2.5-point adjustment.

More key facts
  • DraftKings displayed Florida -5.5 with 92% handle and 96% of bets.
  • Missouri’s injury page listed Hardy, Green, Hoffman and Brady as out and named Austin Simmons as the last-game starting quarterback.
  • The line tracker shows a 53.5 opening total and 56.5 current total, with a 71-degree, light-wind forecast.
  • DraftKings displayed over 56.5 with 100% of handle and 92% of tickets.
  • Brown’s knee injury, Stockton’s practice limitation and Singleton’s full-practice expectation were reported after Ole Miss.
  • Missouri’s injury page lists absences at running back, guard, tight end and receiver.

Keys to the game
  • Missouri DEs Darris Smith and Langden Kitchen questionable vs Florida; Drinkwitz says both must practice by Thursday; Daeden Hopkins had 3.5 sacks vs Mississippi State
  • Sumrall: Brown III, Stockton and Dijon Johnson limited in practice but all could be available; Singleton full go
  • Missouri +5.5, total 56.5; Ahmad Hardy doubtful; both starting DEs questionable; Missouri averaging 13.5 missed tackles per game
What beats it

On the spread. If Smith and Kitchen both practice Thursday and play, the one piece of news favoring Florida disappears. Missouri is at home for homecoming off a loss, Simmons has not thrown an interception, and Florida's defense has conceded 39 and 28 in SEC play, so a backdoor or outright Missouri result inside a number that already moved three points is very live. Buying Florida after the steam means paying the worst of the number.

On the total. Missouri's offense has started slowly and cannot run the ball, Florida may choose to grind with Baugh once ahead, and Missouri's defense has held opponents to about 21 per game, so a 31-20 type result lands under. Chasing a total after a four point move is paying for information already in the price.

Read Stack's full case

Spread. The strongest explanation is simple: Florida is 4-0 with 44 or more points in every game, including SEC wins at Auburn and over Ole Miss, and Missouri just lost at Mississippi State. The news tilts slightly toward Florida: Missouri's two starting defensive ends, Darris Smith and Langden Kitchen, are questionable and must practice by Thursday, which matters against an offense built on Jadan Baugh and play action. Florida's wide receiver injuries (Vernell Brown III, Bailey Stockton) look minor per Sumrall. Against that, most of this is already in a three point move, and Florida's defense has been leaky. I hold a lean on Florida at 5.5, not a bet.

Total. The total opened 52.5 to 53.5 at FanDuel and DraftKings and now sits 56.5 to 57.5, so the market already priced Florida's 53.5 point scoring average. For the over: Florida has scored 44 or more in every game, its two SEC games totaled 83 and 80, its defense ranks outside the top 100 in EPA per play, and Missouri's pass rush is depleted while Simmons throws efficiently. For the under: Missouri's run game is 107th in EPA per rush, it has gone scoreless in three straight first quarters, Missouri has allowed 20.8 per game, and a Florida lead could shorten the game on the ground. Weather is mild with light wind. I hold a slight lean over at 56.5, not a bet.

Where our number looks wrong. Our in-season rating has Florida at 17.5 after four games, largely from blowouts of FAU and Campbell plus the Ole Miss result; it cannot see that Florida's defense has allowed 39 and 28 in its two SEC games, so it likely overrates Florida's full-game margin somewhat. It also does not see Missouri's defensive end injuries, which cut the other way. Net, I treat the 2.5 point gap as noise and trust the market number more.

More key facts
  • Florida No. 1 in offensive EPA per play, defense outside top 100; Missouri 107th in EPA per rush; DraftKings Florida -5.5, total 56.5
  • Drinkwitz Tuesday presser: Missouri scoreless in the first quarter three straight games; letting Florida backs run for 100 yards leaves Missouri no shot
  • Florida scoring offense 2nd nationally at 53.5 points per game and 532.8 yards per game; spread Florida -5, total 56.5
  • Florida defense outside top 100 in EPA per play; Simmons 947 yards, 11 TD, 0 INT
  • Columbia forecast Saturday: mostly sunny, high upper 60s, slight risk of afternoon showers

Keys to the game
  • Brown III MRI shows low-grade knee sprain, Stockton back injury, both limited this week
  • Missouri DEs Smith and Kitchen questionable, backup RB Fonoti out for year
  • Florida receivers limited in practice, availability report scheduled Wednesday
What beats it

On the spread. Missouri at home in a short-number spot with a bounce-back motivation after the Mississippi State loss. If Brown III and Stockton both miss, Florida's passing offense loses its top targets and the line is inflated by the 2.5 to 5.5 steam. Florida has also allowed 39 to Auburn and 28 to Ole Miss, so a shootout keeps Missouri live.

On the total. Missouri controls the ball and runs at a slower tempo with a thin skill group, Florida receivers are limited, and the total is at the high end of recent results for Missouri, whose games have scored 68, 59, 44 and 55 combined.

Spread.Strongest case for the market number: Florida is 4-0 and averaging 53.5 points, with a win at Auburn and a 52-28 result over Ole Miss, against a Missouri side that just lost 24-31 at Mississippi State. A road favorite of about 5 in a top-10 versus unranked-ish spot is roughly what those results justify, and the spread has already moved from 2.5 at DraftKings and FanDuel up to 4.5 to 5.5, so the sharper books are at the high end. New information cuts both ways. Florida receivers Brown III (low-grade knee sprain) and Stockton (back) are limited but possibly available, which is a real risk to a top-heavy passing offense. Missouri's two starting defensive ends, Smith and Kitchen, are both listed questionable, and Missouri is missing a backup back plus WR Brady and TE Hoffman per our scan. I lean Florida at the short numbers, but the receiver uncertainty and a market that has already moved keep this from a bet.

Total. The market total of 56.5 to 57.5 has risen from openers of 52.5 to 56.5, so the move already prices Florida's 53.5 points per game and 22.8 allowed. Case for over: Florida games have produced 87, 55, 83 and 80 combined points against the two real opponents at 83 and 80, and Missouri's defensive ends are questionable, which helps Florida's pace and scoring. Case for under: Missouri's offense scored only 24 at Mississippi State, is missing a WR, TE and backup RB, and a limited Florida receiver group could slow the passing game. Weather looks benign (69 degrees, light wind, low precipitation), so it does not tilt either side. I lean slightly over at 56.5 or 57 because both units have shown defensive leaks, but the number has already absorbed most of it.

On the spread

Florida at Missouri, Florida -4.5. The move is easy to explain: Florida is 4-0, averaging 53.5 points, with a 44-39 win at Auburn and a 52-28 win over Ole Miss, while Missouri lost 31-24 at Mississippi State. Missouri ends Darris Smith and Langden Kitchen are questionable and running back Ahmad Hardy is doubtful. Florida receivers Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton are limited but could play. The counter-case: Florida's defense allowed 39 and 28 in its two SEC games, most of the move is priced, and the receiver injuries cap conviction. Take Florida -4.5 at -115 at FanDuel.

On the total

Over 56.5. The total opened 52.5 to 56.5 and now sits at 56.5 to 57.5.
