Auburn at Georgia. Pick: Auburn +20.5. Pick: Under 49.5.
The call
The panelists
- Georgia coach Kirby Smart said Frazier could not play at Alabama because of pain, identified Bowens as a prior injury-report addition, and described the team as down three backs.
- Georgia’s official notes list Georgia at 46.4 scoring offense and 14.0 scoring defense, Auburn at 26.8 scoring offense, and Williams out with a knee injury.
- SEC football availability reports begin Wednesday before Saturday conference games, with daily updates and a final report 90 minutes before kickoff.
On the spread. Georgia’s elite offense and defense can make the roster concern irrelevant, while Auburn scored only 14 at Tennessee and is without Amaris Williams. If Frazier and Bowens are cleared, Georgia minus 20.5 can remain fully justified.
On the total. Georgia can supply most of the scoring by itself, and Auburn’s defensive front is weakened by Williams’ absence. If the wind eases or Auburn finds explosive plays after the bye, the market’s 49.5 can prove too low.

Spread.Market-first: Georgia’s dominant scoring and defensive profile, Auburn’s 14-point loss at Tennessee, and the Bulldogs’ win at Alabama explain the move from Georgia minus 18.5 to minus 20.5. That move has already absorbed the most obvious Georgia-strength case. Auburn had the open date, while Georgia returned from a physical road win with a compressed running-back room: Nate Frazier was a late scratch at Alabama and Chauncey Bowens was playing through an ankle issue. The EL number of Georgia minus 21.7 is only 1.2 points from the market and is not actionable given the model’s documented ATS failure.
Total.Market-first: 49.5 already reflects Georgia’s high-scoring offense, Auburn’s limited output against Tennessee, and a number that has been reduced from FanDuel’s 52.5 opener. The case for the over is Georgia’s 46.4-point scoring offense and a possible Auburn defensive downgrade without Amaris Williams. The remaining under case is more specific: Georgia has allowed no opponent above 20 points, Auburn’s offense is 13th in the SEC, and the latest venue forecast calls for a cross-field wind with stronger gusts. The totals model at 48.78 offers no independent edge, so this is only an under lean at the captured 49.5, not a bet.
Where our number looks wrong. The model’s Georgia minus 21.7 is too close to the market to matter, and its flat home field plus final-margin inputs miss Georgia’s immediate running-back availability problem and Auburn’s extra recovery week.
- Georgia’s official notes state that no opponent has scored more than 20 points against the Bulldogs this season and list Auburn at 26.8 points per game.
- Auburn’s official 2026 schedule records a 24-14 loss at Tennessee on Oct. 3.
- The Sanford Stadium forecast lists clear conditions, 66 degrees at kickoff, 14 mph wind and gusts up to 23 mph.
- Georgia unofficial injury report lists Blackshear, Williams and Harrison out and Canion, Frazier, Bowens and Green questionable; Georgia down three tailbacks
- Auburn LB Xavier Atkins will miss the Georgia game
- Byrum Brown has seven interceptions in five games; Auburn leads the SEC in sacks allowed
On the spread. Georgia's defense is elite and Auburn's offensive line is the worst pass protection unit in the SEC by sacks allowed; a turnover prone quarterback facing pressure can hand Georgia short fields, and Georgia beat Oklahoma by 28 and Vanderbilt by 24 at home. Without Atkins, Auburn's defense also loses its best pass rusher. If Frazier and Canion are cleared on the SEC availability report, Georgia's offense looks closer to its 46 points a game form and 20.5 is not enough.
On the total. Auburn turnovers can gift Georgia short field touchdowns, Georgia scored 38 or more in five of six games, and Auburn put up 39 on Florida, so a lopsided game can still clear 50 on Georgia's scoring alone. If Frazier and Canion return, Georgia's offense is closer to full strength.

Spread.Market first: Georgia opened 17.5 to 18.5 and every book now sits at 20.5 or 21, with Georgia priced as high as -118 at 20.5. The strongest case for that number is real: Auburn lost preseason All-American LB Xavier Atkins for this game, its offensive line leads the SEC in sacks allowed, and Byrum Brown has seven interceptions in five games, several under pressure, against a Georgia defense allowing 14 points a game. What pushes me to Auburn is the other injury list. Georgia is down three tailbacks (Dowdell lost for the year, Frazier ribs and Bowens questionable), WR Thomas Blackshear is out with a shoulder injury and Isiah Canion is questionable after missing Alabama, and Georgia scored 20 in Tuscaloosa with that group. A short handed offense has to sustain drives to clear three touchdowns, and Auburn comes off a bye while Georgia comes off a physical road win. After a two to three point move toward the favorite, the plus 20.5 at even money is a lean, not a bet.
Total. The over case: Georgia averages 46 points a game, Auburn's quarterback turns the ball over into short fields, the forecast is clear and mild, and Auburn scored 39 against Florida. The under case is more specific: Georgia's offense is missing its top tailbacks and two starting receivers and scored 20 at Alabama, Auburn's offense managed 14 at Tennessee and 21 against Vanderbilt and faces a defense allowing 14 a game, and a big favorite with a thin backfield tends to run clock once ahead. I lean under at 49.5, not a bet, because the move has taken most of the value.
Where our number looks wrong. Our number of Georgia by 21.7 matches the market, but it is built from final margins and cannot see that Georgia is playing without its top tailbacks and two starting receivers, or that Auburn loses its best linebacker. Those effects roughly pull in opposite directions, so the model is not obviously wrong on the number, but its agreement with the market is coincidence rather than evidence. The calibration map also stretches big favorites, which nudges it toward Georgia here.
- BetMGM listed Georgia -19, total 49.5, as of Oct. 12, showing the spread was still rising this week
- Georgia injury report shows top tailbacks and receivers out or questionable
- Brown turnover problem and Auburn pass protection issues
- Search summary reports Georgia opened as a large favorite over Auburn for week 7 and Auburn is coming off a bye
- Week 7 early picks lean Georgia citing passing production
On the spread. Georgia has won four of six games by 24 or more points, Auburn's offense has 26.8 points per game with several skill players listed out, and a bye does not fix a defense in the lower tier of the SEC. A 35 to 10 home result is a normal outcome and the Alabama game may simply be a one-off.
On the total. If Georgia scores 42 or more as it did in three of six games, the over clears with Auburn needing only a touchdown or two. Auburn also allowed 44 to Florida in a shootout, and garbage-time scoring by either side is common.

Spread. The market explanation is simple: Georgia is ranked first, 6-0, scoring 46.2 and allowing 14 per game, at home against a 3-2 Auburn team that lost 14-24 at Tennessee and scored only 26.8 per game. Offsetting that, Georgia's last outing was a 20-17 win at Alabama, a three-point game, and Auburn comes off a bye week with extra time to prepare. Twenty and a half points is a large number for a conference game between two SEC programs. I cannot verify anything beyond that: no SEC availability report is posted yet, and search returned mostly stale pages.
Total. The total opened 48.5 to 52.5 and now is 49.5 everywhere, so the market has settled on the middle. Georgia's season scoring of 46.2 per game is inflated by 63 and 70 point results against weak opponents; its last three games had totals of 52 (Vanderbilt 38-14), 54 (Oklahoma 41-13) and 37 (Alabama 20-17). Auburn scored 14 at Tennessee and has the lower tier defense that still produces turnovers. A 20.5 point spread implies roughly 35 to 14, which fits 49.5 exactly, so the number looks fair. A blowout can run the clock and slow late scoring, which slightly favors the under, but Georgia scoring in the 40s alone would clear it. This is a lean on the under with weak support, not a bet.

The call, written up
Auburn at Georgia, Georgia -20.5. The case for the move: Georgia is 6-0, scores about 46 points a game and allows 14, Auburn lost 24-14 at Tennessee on Oct. 3, and DawgNation reported Oct. 13 that Auburn LB Xavier Atkins will miss the game. All three panels still take Auburn. The AJC reported Oct. 12 that Georgia is down three tailbacks, with Nate Frazier a late scratch at Alabama and Chauncey Bowens questionable, and listed WR Thomas Blackshear out. Georgia scored 20 in its 20-17 win at Alabama, and Auburn comes off a bye. The counter-case: Byrum Brown has seven interceptions in five games (Yahoo Sports, Oct. 12), and if Wednesday's SEC report clears Georgia's backs, three scores is within reach.
Under 49.5. Georgia has allowed no opponent more than 20 points (Georgia Athletics, Oct. 12), Auburn scored 14 at Tennessee, and Georgia's short-handed skill group scored 20 at Alabama. The captured forecast is clear and 66 degrees with wind near 9 mph; one panel's source shows a stronger crosswind, worth a recheck. The counter-case: Georgia can carry the over alone, and Brown's turnovers can hand it short fields.
How to read this page
The calls come first on this page: the spread and the total, each a Pick or a Lean, then Ace, Stack and Buck one by one. The market's number, our number and the gap between them sit further down as MODEL CONTEXT: that is the input our analyst panel argued from, not a call of its own. A Pick is our strongest call and goes on the record. A Lean is which way we lean on a game and is not a pick. The meter shows how strongly the panel backs the call. It is not a probability or a hit rate.

The numbers the panel argued from. Our models price a game, the panel makes the call, and the calls above are the call. Nothing in this block is a call.
The totals number is a registered candidate that loses to the closing total: across 2,264 held out games it missed the combined score by 12.862 points on average and the closing total missed by 12.635, ahead of us in all 3 of those seasons, so it never posts to the board and never enters the record on its own.
