Utah State's rating also fell 7.1 points after one FCS loss: substantial punishment before considering the market's move from -24.5 to -26.5. Washington should dominate, but domination and a four-touchdown cover are different requirements. Confirmed absences of its first two running backs reduce confidence in sustained scoring and late-game margin protection; Washington also has six calendar days between games versus Utah State's seven. Those injuries are public and likely partly priced, so I do not claim a hidden information edge. The opposing case is serious: Utah State lost to Idaho State and faces a defense that just allowed zero third-down conversions. DraftKings' larger dollar share on the dog is context, not proof of sharp action. My modest lean reflects an overstretched model and diminished Washington backfield, not confidence in Utah State's quality.

The totals estimate's 2.82-point difference is noise-sized, and its stated absence of weather inputs conflicts with its explicit wind adjustment.

The market already bought that story. The line opened Washington -24.5 (DraftKings/FanDuel 9/4, VegasInsider open -24.5) and sits -26.5 to -27.5 now, so we would be paying two to three points for news the model is double-counting. Meanwhile everything the model cannot see subtracts from Washington: RBs Quaid Carr (hand, surgery) and Jayden Limar (elbow, surgery) are out for extended time, WR Christian Moss played one snap in the Apple Cup and is questionable, the offensive line was poor in a 12-penalty, 130-yard win over Washington State, and Fisch has five days of prep instead of six after Sunday's game. A top-20 team laying 27 with a sixth-year transfer and two freshmen at running back is exactly where second-half scoring dies. Take the points.

On the road against a defense that held Washington State to 10, 10-14 is the honest range. Washington then has to clear roughly 42 without its top two running backs or Christian Moss, behind a line its own coaches criticized after a 24-point Apple Cup. Rain is possible (40 percent, mainly after 11am, NWS 9/9) but winds are light, so weather is a nudge, not the case. Our 52.7 agrees, though its wind penalty is unsupported by the forecast; the real under case is personnel. The over's path is turnover-driven short fields, which is genuinely live.
